New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), India’s leading power equipment manufacturer, has awarded a significant Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract to Power Mech Projects Limited. The contract, valued at over Rs 2,500 crore (exclusive of GST), covers the balance of plants (BOP) package for the 1×800 MW Singareni Super Thermal Power Project, Stage II, located in Mancherial, Telangana.
Scope and Execution Timeline of the Project
The EPC contract mandates Power Mech Projects Limited to deliver comprehensive services for the balance of plants, establishing a single point of responsibility for the entire BOP package. The execution timeline for the project is set at 38 months from the date of commencement of work.
The scope of work includes a wide range of activities:
- Design, engineering, manufacturing, inspection, and testing of components.
- Supply, transportation, receipt, unloading, storage, security, and handling of materials at the project site.
- Complete civil and structural works, including construction, erection, testing, commissioning, and final painting.
- Conducting trial runs, performance guarantee (PG) tests, and handing over the fully functional facilities.
- Providing annual maintenance services until handover, along with training, guarantee, warranty, and defect liability period support.

Project Location and Strategic Importance
The project is situated in Mancherial, Telangana, and is part of the Stage II expansion of the Singareni Super Thermal Power Project. The new 800 MW unit aims to boost power generation capacity in the region, supporting Telangana’s growing industrial and domestic energy needs.
The balance of plants (BOP) package is critical as it includes all supporting infrastructure and auxiliary systems necessary for the efficient operation of the power plant, beyond the main boiler, turbine, and generator units.
