Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) Electronics Division in Bengaluru has been awarded the prestigious GreenCo Gold rating by the CII-Godrej Business Centre, Hyderabad, making it the highest GreenCo rating achieved by any BHEL unit so far.
As part of the HARIT BHEL initiative, all manufacturing units are required to apply for the GreenCo rating by CII. With this achievement, the Electronics Division is the 7th unit in BHEL to receive the CII GreenCo rating.
The CII GreenCo Rating System is a pioneering framework that recognizes and facilitates the growth of leading green companies in India. Launched in 2011, it was developed as a voluntary standard through extensive stakeholder consultation.

The objective of GreenCo is to assist companies in improving their environmental performance in a comprehensive manner and to go beyond mere compliance. The GreenCo rating is applicable to both manufacturing facilities and service sector units. The rating is implemented at the unit or facility level, with a requirement that the unit or facility be in operation for a minimum of 3 years. In the case of new plants or facilities, a minimum of 2 years of operation is required.
