Patna: In a major move towards women’s empowerment and rural development, the Bihar state cabinet has approved an allocation of ₹20,000 crore to the Rural Development Department. Under the flagship Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, one woman from every family in the state will receive ₹10,000 directly credited to her bank account. This initiative aims to help women become financially self-reliant by providing seed money to start their own businesses or ventures. The state plans to further extend support up to ₹2 lakh based on the progress and employment generated by these women.

Creation of 3,233 New Government Posts Approved
Boost in Employment Across Departments Including Education, Engineering, Culture, and Welfare
The cabinet approved the creation of 3,233 new posts in various departments to strengthen the state government workforce. Highlights include:
1,800 posts for teachers and non-teaching staff in 40 newly approved Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe residential schools under the SC/ST Welfare Department. This includes posts of principals, teachers across different classes, and support staff.
237 posts in 38 government engineering colleges managed by the Science, Technology, and Technical Education Department.
25 posts in new branches for Cultural Program and Accounts & Budget under the Department of Art, Culture, and Youth.
15 posts in the “Suvas Cell” tasked with translating Supreme Court decisions into the state’s official language.
12 posts of Assistant District Sainik Welfare Officers in 12 districts.
Prohibition and State Narcotics Control Bureau to Be Formed
New Bureau to Tackle Narcotics and Alcohol-Related Crimes with 88 Posts Sanctioned
The cabinet approved the formation of a Prohibition and State Narcotics Control Bureau, modeled after the central government’s Narcotics Control Bureau. This new bureau will work towards controlling illegal narcotics, psychotropic substances, and alcohol-related crimes in Bihar. A total of 88 posts of various categories will be created for this purpose.
Enhanced Allowances for Home Guards and Government Assistants
Daily Allowance Raised to ₹1,121 for Home Guards; Honorariums of Key Government Contract Staff Increased
The cabinet sanctioned an increase in the daily allowance for Bihar Home Defense Corps home guards from ₹774 to ₹1,121, matching the daily salary of state police personnel. Additionally, the basic honorariums for contract staff such as Rural Housing Assistants, Supervisors, Block Accountants, and Accounting Assistants involved in schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin have been increased by 20-25%. The honorarium for State Program Officers has been raised by 10%.
Scholarship Hike for Medical and Allied Health Interns
Interns in Medical, Dental, Ayurvedic, Unani, Homeopathy, and Foreign Medical Sciences to Receive Increased Monthly Scholarships
The cabinet approved raising monthly scholarships for interns in government medical colleges and allied health sciences:
Medical, dental, Ayurvedic, Unani, Homeopathy, and foreign medical science interns will now receive ₹27,000 (previously ₹20,000).
Physiotherapy and acupressure interns will receive ₹20,000 (previously ₹15,000).
Technical assistants and accountant-cum-IT assistants will receive increased monthly salaries of ₹40,000 and ₹30,000 respectively.
Gram Kachhari Secretary Honorarium Increased to ₹9,000
The honorarium for Gram Kachhari Secretaries, who work at the grassroots administrative level, has been raised from ₹6,000 to ₹9,000 effective from July 1, 2025, recognizing their crucial role in rural governance.

A total of 48 proposals were approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, covering youth welfare, women empowerment, government employee benefits, and more.
