Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday handed over appointment letters to 1,283 newly recruited AYUSH doctors at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Patna. The ceremony, held in the conference room, included a symbolic presentation of appointment letters to ten doctors by the Chief Minister. Health Secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh welcomed CM Nitish Kumar by presenting a plant on the occasion.
Breakup of Appointments
Among the 1,283 AYUSH doctors appointed, 685 are Ayurvedic practitioners, 393 are Homeopathic doctors, and 205 are Unani physicians. These appointments have been made under a transparent selection process based on merit lists and candidate preferences for districts, ensuring that the placement corresponds to both availability of vacancies and the applicants’ choices. The doctors will be posted across various health institutions in all 38 districts of Bihar.
Deployment in Mobile Medical Teams
All newly appointed AYUSH doctors will be deployed under the “National Child Health Program” as part of the mobile medical teams (“Chalant Chikitsa Dal”). Their responsibilities will include operating outpatient departments (OPDs) in various health institutions under the AYUSH medical services and participating in other programs run under the National Health Mission. This initiative aims to enhance health check-ups in schools and provide better medical services at health centers, especially for children.

The appointment ceremony was attended by several senior officials, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Health Minister Mangal Pandey, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary to CM Deepak Kumar, Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Managing Director of Bihar Medical Services & Infrastructure Corporation Limited Dr. Nilesh Ramchandra Devre, Executive Director of the State Health Committee Amit Kumar Pandey, and Special Secretary of the Health Department Himanshu Sharma.
Strengthening Child Health and AYUSH Services
The initiative reflects the Bihar government’s commitment to strengthening AYUSH healthcare services across the state while enhancing child health programs. With these new appointments, mobile medical teams will be able to provide timely medical care to children in schools and communities, ensuring better accessibility and healthcare outcomes across urban and rural areas.

The mobile medical teams under the National Child Health Program aim to provide preventive and curative healthcare to children in schools and communities.
