Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday announced a new initiative to provide healthcare services at home for senior citizens across the state. The scheme will be implemented as part of the government’s ambitious ‘Saat Nischay–3’ programme, which aims to make Bihar one of India’s most developed states during the 2025–2030 period.
The Chief Minister directed the Health Department to roll out the scheme on a priority basis, ensuring that elderly citizens receive essential medical support without having to leave their homes.
Part of ‘Saat Nischay–3’ Vision for Developed Bihar
CM Nitish Kumar said that the government has launched Saat Nischay–3 with the objective of placing Bihar among the country’s most developed states by 2030. The initiative’s seventh resolve, ‘Sabka Samman – Jeevan Aasan’ (Ease of Living), focuses on reducing daily hardships and improving the quality of life for all citizens.
He emphasized that providing timely healthcare to needy senior citizens at their doorstep is one of the government’s top priorities under this vision.
Healthcare Services to Be Provided at Home
Under the proposed scheme, senior citizens in Bihar will be eligible for several essential healthcare services at home, including:
- Nursing assistance
- Home-based pathology tests
- Blood pressure monitoring and ECG tests
- Physiotherapy services
- Emergency medical assistance in critical situations
The Chief Minister said the Health Department has been instructed to act swiftly to ensure that these services are made available to elderly citizens across the state.
CM Shares Government’s Commitment
In a post on social media platform X, CM Nitish Kumar said that since his government came to power on 4 November 2005, it has worked on the principle of “development with justice”, focusing on the upliftment of all sections of society.
He said the Bihar government considers the entire state as one family and is committed to ensuring dignity, respect, and ease of living for every citizen.
Citizens Invited to Share Suggestions
The Chief Minister also invited citizens to share suggestions on additional facilities that could further improve the lives of senior citizens. Suggestions can be sent via email to [email protected] or by post to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
Background of Saat Nischay Programmes
The Bihar Cabinet recently approved the implementation of Saat Nischay–3 for the 2025–2030 period. The state government had earlier launched two phases of the Saat Nischay programme prior to 2015, focusing on governance reforms, infrastructure development, and social welfare.
