Gaya, Bihar: Bihar is set to strengthen its industrial landscape with the development of the state’s largest industrial hub in Dobhi Block. Spanning approximately 1,670 acres across 13 villages, including Gamharia and Kharati, the project will cost an estimated ₹1,339 crore and is expected to generate employment for over 1.09 lakh people.
Multi-Sector Industrial Development Planned
The Dobhi industrial hub will host a variety of industries, including:
- Aerospace and Defense
- Ready-Made Garments
- Construction Materials and Furniture
- Agro & Food Processing
- Technical Industries and Auto Parts
- Steel-Based Products
- Handicrafts and Handloom
The government plans to develop the area as a state-of-the-art industrial zone with modern infrastructure, plug-and-play facilities, and strong connectivity, making it attractive to investors.
Major Investments Announced
Recently, Shyam Steel Manufacturing Limited announced a ₹5,000 crore investment in the hub to establish a massive integrated steel plant on 500 acres, which is expected to create employment for more than 8,000 people.
Overall, the industrial hub is projected to attract ₹16,524 crore in investments, significantly boosting Bihar’s industrial capacity and contributing to the state’s economic growth.
Infrastructure and Connectivity
The development plan includes:
- Road connectivity linking Dobhi to the National Highway network
- Reliable electricity and water supply for industrial units
- Support for both medium and large-scale industries
- Direct access to domestic and international markets, including Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh
This hub is part of the Amritsar-Kolkata Corridor Project, establishing Gaya as a key industrial and economic center in Bihar.
Employment Opportunities for Youth
The Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker, Prem Kumar, highlighted that the project will provide employment opportunities for over 1 lakh people, including local youth, helping reduce unemployment and boost skill development in the region.
The hub will also serve as a model industrial area, reinforcing Bihar’s position as a growing industrial corridor in eastern India and connecting the state to national and international markets.
