Patna: The Bihar government is set to fill 1,50,561 vacant posts across various departments, aiming to strengthen public services and provide employment opportunities. The General Administration Department (GAD) has sent proposals to multiple recruitment commissions to expedite the hiring process, officials said.

Dr. B. Rajendra, Additional Chief Secretary of GAD, highlighted that recruitment for vacant positions is a continuous process, with the government firmly committed to ensuring timely appointments.

Over 10 Lakh Jobs Provided Since 2020

Dr. Rajendra noted that from April 2020 to 6 February 2026, a total of 9,84,141 people have been employed under government initiatives. Of these:

  • Regular employees: 7,95,832
  • Contractual employees: 1,17,784
  • Externally hired staff: 70,525

This record demonstrates the state’s sustained focus on creating employment and strengthening administrative efficiency.

GAD Receives ISO Certification for Quality and Transparency

In a significant achievement, GAD recently obtained ISO certification for three years—the first department in Bihar to do so. This certification reflects high standards of departmental functioning, transparency, and process standardization.

Expansion of Citizen Services Across Departments

Bihar is currently offering 153 types of services across 14 departments under the law, including caste and residential certificates, accident compensation, and schemes for women’s welfare. Over 51.13 crore applications have been processed to date.

Since July 2025, over 64 services are being made available at the Panchayat level through newly established local service centers, ensuring timely resolution of citizen issues at the grassroots.

Transparent Complaint Redressal System in Place

The Bihar Public Grievance Redressal Act, 2015, ensures transparent handling of complaints related to services and schemes. Since 22 January 2016, over 18.57 lakh grievances have been resolved under this act. Citizens can also access support through toll-free numbers:

  • Jigyasa Helpline: 14403
  • Samadhan Call Centre: 1800-345-6284

Dr. Rajendra reported that more than 7.92 lakh citizens have received information via Jigyasa, while over 12.35 lakh complaints have been successfully addressed through the Samadhan portal.

Digitalization of HR and Service Records

The government is also digitizing human resource management under the HRMS initiative. Service details, immovable and movable property records of officers and employees under groups A, B, and C are being uploaded on relevant departmental websites, enhancing transparency and accountability.

Looking Ahead: Recruitment and Administrative Reforms

With the current proposal for 1.5 lakh posts, Bihar aims to further strengthen its workforce and ensure efficient service delivery. The state government continues to focus on both employment generation and modernization of administrative processes, making governance more accessible and citizen-centric.
