Patna: Bihar’s rural roads and bridges are witnessing a major transformation through the state government’s innovative mobile application, “Hamara Bihar-Hamari Sadak”. Developed by the Rural Works Department, the app allows villagers to report damaged roads and bridges directly to officials, eliminating the need for multiple government visits.
The app has become a powerful tool for immediate action, ensuring that grievances related to infrastructure are addressed promptly at the divisional and headquarters level. Users can submit complaints along with photos and details of the damaged site, which are automatically routed to the relevant engineers for inspection and repair.
High Resolution Rate of Complaints
Since its launch, the app has received a total of 1,528 complaints until December 29, 2025, out of which 1,463 have been successfully resolved, achieving an impressive resolution rate of 95.75%. This demonstrates the effectiveness of digital technology in connecting the public with government systems and speeding up infrastructure maintenance in rural areas.
Among the regions, the highest number of complaints came from Chief Engineer-5 Muzaffarpur Circle with 345 complaints, of which 334 were resolved. Chief Engineer-6 Darbhanga received 338 complaints, resolving 324, while Patna Circle handled 255 complaints with 245 resolutions. Other areas like Purnia, Gaya, and Bhagalpur also showed high resolution rates.
How Villagers Can Use the App
The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. Villagers can log in using their mobile numbers, select their district, block, panchayat, and village, and then upload details and photos of the damaged road or bridge. The complaint is instantly forwarded to the concerned authority, ensuring fast action.
Officials are required to inspect and complete repairs within a set timeframe. After completion, photos and reports are uploaded to the app, allowing complainants to track the status. The system also includes departmental accountability, with provisions for action against officials who fail to address complaints on time.
Impact on Rural Development
The “Hamara Bihar-Hamari Sadak” app has not only improved traffic conditions in rural areas but also accelerated infrastructure development through active citizen participation. This initiative reflects Bihar’s commitment to leveraging digital technology for better governance, transparency, and efficient public service delivery.
