Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai Warns Private Schools Over RTE Violations, Promises Strict Action

Government reinforces 25% RTE quota enforcement, ensures transparency in admissions and fee reimbursement while protecting parents from undue financial pressure
Indian Masterminds Stories

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has issued a strict warning to private schools across the state, stating that any form of arbitrariness will not be tolerated. He emphasized that the government is closely monitoring school functioning and will take strict action against institutions violating rules.

The Chief Minister assured parents that complaints regarding schools will be thoroughly investigated, and if any violation is confirmed, strong action will follow against the concerned institutions.

No Tolerance for Financial Pressure on Parents

CM Sai clearly stated that no private school will be allowed to exert unnecessary financial or mental pressure on parents. He added that the state government is committed to maintaining transparency and balance in the education system to protect the interests of families.

According to him, accountability of schools is a key priority, and the government is actively ensuring that education remains fair and accessible.

Strict Enforcement of RTE Act in Private Schools

The state government has also taken a firm stance on the effective implementation of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009. Authorities have made it clear that private unaided schools refusing admission to children from economically weaker and disadvantaged sections will face strict action, including possible cancellation of recognition.

Under the RTE Act, 25% of seats in private schools are reserved for children from economically weaker and disadvantaged groups in entry-level classes.

Transparent Fee Reimbursement System Under RTE

The government reimburses private schools for RTE admissions based on per-student expenditure or actual school fees, whichever is lower. This system is designed to ensure transparency and fairness.

Currently, reimbursement rates in Chhattisgarh are considered balanced compared to several other states:

  • Classes 1 to 5: ₹7,000 per student annually
  • Classes 6 to 8: ₹11,400 per student annually

Officials claim that the model is practical and well-balanced compared to other states such as Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh.

Strong RTE Implementation Across the State

At present, more than 6,800 private schools in Chhattisgarh are implementing the RTE quota system. Over 3.63 lakh students are studying under the RTE framework across the state.

For the current academic session, admission is ongoing for nearly 22,000 seats in Class 1, offering opportunities to thousands of new students.

Government Warning to Schools and Public Advisory

The Education Department has reiterated that compliance with RTE provisions is mandatory for all private schools as it is directly linked to their recognition. Any violation or obstruction in admissions will result in strict disciplinary action.

Citizens have also been advised to rely only on official information sources and avoid misinformation related to RTE admissions.

Goal: Equal and Inclusive Education for All

The Chhattisgarh government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that no child is deprived of education. The administration aims to provide equal learning opportunities and strengthen accountability within the private education sector.
