According to a notification issued by the Home Department on Friday:
IG Daljit Singh (2007 batch), currently serving in the Crime Investigation Department (CID), will take charge as Inspector General (IG) in the Border Security Force (BSF) on central deputation.
DIG Rajiv Mishra (2010 batch), presently posted in the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), has been selected for the post of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
The notifications underscore the continued trend of deputing capable IPS officers from Bihar to central law enforcement and security agencies.
Background and Trend
Earlier this month, STF IG Vinay Kumar (2004 batch) assumed charge as IG in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on central deputation, reflecting the growing demand for experienced officers from Bihar in national security roles.
Police sources indicate that three to four more IPS officers from Bihar may be sent on central deputation in the coming weeks, highlighting the cadre’s reputation for skilled policing and leadership.
Significance
Central deputations allow IPS officers to gain experience in national-level security operations, counter-terrorism, and industrial security management, while also strengthening the Centre’s policing and intelligence apparatus. For Bihar IPS officers, such deputations offer opportunities for career growth, exposure to specialized roles, and contributing to national security priorities.
