A crucial meeting of the Municipal Council was held in Jehanabad district on Monday, where urban development projects worth Rs. 355 crore were approved to improve infrastructure and address long-standing civic issues. The meeting took place at the Gram Complex Bhawan and was attended by Urban Development Minister Mr. Jeevesh Mishra, the District Officer, and other senior officials.
Rs. 300 Crore Allocated for Sewage System
A major highlight of the meeting was the approval of Rs. 300 crore for the establishment of a modern sewage system in Jehanabad city. Minister Mr. Mishra said that this initiative is aimed at improving sanitation, public health, and urban hygiene.
Rs. 45 Crore Drainage Project to Resolve Waterlogging
To address the persistent problem of waterlogging, particularly in the Raja Bazar area, a separate drainage project has been approved at a cost of Rs. 45 crore. This project is expected to offer a long-term solution to one of the city’s most critical urban challenges.
Additional Nagar Panchayat Projects Worth Rs. 11.25 Crore
Apart from the sewage and drainage systems, the government will spend Rs. 11 crore 25 lakh on various schemes under the Nagar Panchayat, further contributing to local infrastructure and civic amenities.
Emphasis on Coordinated Efforts and Accountability
Mr. Mishra stressed the importance of coordination among the executive officer, municipal council president, and other stakeholders. “The city will witness continuous development only when everyone works together,” he said, applauding the District Officer for personally monitoring projects on the ground.
Minister Acknowledges Past Gaps, Promises Acceleration
Admitting that there have been shortcomings in development efforts so far, Mr. Mishra assured that these issues will be addressed promptly. He credited the “double engine government” — a term often used to describe state and central government alignment — for accelerating the pace of development across Bihar.
With these substantial investments and renewed administrative focus, Jehanabad is set for a significant urban transformation in the coming years.
