Patna: The Bihar government has announced a new initiative aimed at giving school students a broader understanding of India’s rich heritage and culture. Under the scheme, students studying in government schools will now have the opportunity to visit important historical, cultural, and spiritual sites across the country. The program, named ‘Mukhyamantri Bharat Darshan Yojana’, is expected to start in the upcoming academic session.
Expanding Horizons Beyond State Borders
Until now, students in Bihar had the opportunity to visit prominent locations within the state through the ‘Mukhyamantri Bihar Darshan Yojana’, which focused on educating primary and middle school students about Bihar’s historical and cultural landmarks. With the new initiative, the government aims to extend this learning experience to national landmarks, helping secondary school students gain a comprehensive understanding of India’s history, architecture, and spiritual traditions.
Education Minister Sunil Kumar, during a recent review meeting, instructed officials to expedite the implementation of the program. The initiative reflects the state government’s emphasis on providing experiential learning opportunities that contribute to the overall mental and cultural development of students.
Focus on India’s Iconic Destinations
The ‘Mukhyamantri Bharat Darshan Yojana’ is expected to include visits to several of India’s most iconic sites. Students may explore historical monuments such as the Taj Mahal in Agra, the Red Fort and Qutub Minar in Delhi, Charminar in Hyderabad, and Agra Fort. The plan also includes trips to scenic locations like the beaches of Goa, the natural beauty of Kerala, and the hills of Darjeeling. Spiritual and cultural centers such as Rishikesh, Varanasi, Sarnath, Chitrakoot, and Jaipur will also be part of the itinerary.
The program is designed to offer students a unique blend of historical knowledge, cultural exposure, and spiritual insight. By directly interacting with these landmarks, students are expected to gain a better understanding of India’s diverse heritage, complementing classroom education.
Preparing for Implementation
The Education Department is currently working on the operational framework for the program, including travel logistics, safety measures, and educational content for the students. Officials are focused on ensuring that the initiative reaches students in an organized and effective manner, allowing them to explore India’s cultural treasures safely and meaningfully.
This nationwide learning experience is expected to inspire young minds, foster patriotism, and enhance students’ awareness of India’s vast historical and cultural landscape.
