Couple Plans Traditional Hindu Wedding with Close Family After Legal Registration in Alwar, Rajasthan
Indian Masterminds Stories

Alwar/Delhi: In a refreshing departure from grandiose royal-style weddings, 2023 batch IAS officers Madhav Bhardwaj and Aditi Varshney opted for a simple registered marriage in Alwar, Rajasthan. The ceremony was conducted before Alwar Collector Artika Shukla, with only the parents and siblings of both officers in attendance, reflecting the couple’s preference for simplicity and privacy.

Couple’s Professional Profiles

Madhav Bhardwaj currently serves as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Alwar, Rajasthan, while Aditi Varshney is posted as SDM in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Both officers are part of the 2023 IAS batch, having met during their civil services training.

  • Madhav Bhardwaj: Holds a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from MNNIT Allahabad and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. Before joining the civil services, he worked as a Product Manager at Microsoft for two years. Despite a locomotor disability, Madhav secured All India Rank (AIR) 536 in UPSC CSE 2022 on his second attempt.
  • Aditi Varshney: Completed her schooling at Bishop Konrad School, Bareilly, and graduated in Sociology from Miranda House, Delhi University. Sociology was also her optional subject for the civil services examination.

Love Story and Wedding Plans

The couple’s love story began in Mussoorie, where they first met during their IAS training. Over time, their bond strengthened, leading them to register their marriage in a simple ceremony.

While the couple has completed the legal formalities, they plan to hold a traditional Hindu wedding at a temple on an auspicious date. They have emphasised that the upcoming ceremonies will remain simple and intimate, attended only by close family members.

Celebrating Simplicity in Civil Services Weddings

Madhav and Aditi’s wedding stands out in contrast to the trend of extravagant weddings among prominent personalities and bureaucrats. Their choice underscores personal values of simplicity, privacy, and family-focused celebrations, setting an example for fellow officers and young professionals alike.

The couple’s story also highlights the balance between demanding civil service careers and personal milestones, demonstrating that love and commitment can thrive even amidst rigorous professional responsibilities.
