Patna: The Cooperation Department of Bihar has announced that paddy procurement from farmers will continue from November 2025 until February 2026. Under the Kharif Marketing Season 2025-26, paddy will be purchased at Minimum Support Price (MSP) through Panchayat-level PACS and block-level trade bodies. Farmers will receive ₹2,369 per quintal for ordinary paddy and ₹2,389 per quintal for Grade-A paddy.
Protecting Farmers from Middlemen and Ensuring Timely Payment
The state government emphasized that procurement through PACS and trade bodies will safeguard farmers from exploitation by middlemen while guaranteeing fair income through MSP. Payment for the procured paddy will be credited directly to the farmer’s bank account via the Public Financial Management System (PFMS). Farmers are required to register and submit land and crop details on the Agriculture Department portal dbtagriculture.bihar.gov.in to sell their paddy. Registration for procurement has been open since 15 September 2025.
Preparations by PACS and Trade Bodies for Smooth Procurement
The Cooperation Department has directed all PACS and trade bodies to ensure adequate storage facilities, functional moisture meters, weighing instruments, and equipment for Aadhaar-based farmer verification before the procurement begins. Promotional banners and posters should be deployed to raise awareness among farmers. Only properly prepared and verified PACS and trade bodies will participate in the procurement process.
