Patna: Bihar is positioning itself for a larger role in India’s high-tech economy, with companies from Taiwan and South Korea showing interest in exploring opportunities in the state’s semiconductor, IT and artificial intelligence sectors.
The development was highlighted at Semicon India 2026 in Delhi, where Bihar Industries Department Secretary Kundan Kumar said the state has significant potential for technology-driven industries. He said Bihar aims to move beyond being a consumer market and develop capabilities to become a producer in emerging technology sectors.
Taiwan and South Korea Eye Bihar’s Technology Potential
The growing interest from technology companies comes as Bihar works to strengthen its industrial ecosystem through a new policy framework and large-scale infrastructure development.
The state is presenting opportunities across sectors such as:
- Semiconductors and electronics
- Information technology and artificial intelligence
- Global Capability Centres
- Advanced manufacturing and technology-driven industries
The government is seeking to use these sectors to diversify Bihar’s industrial base and create new opportunities for technology-led investment.

Semiconductor Industry at the Centre of Bihar’s Industrial Push

Alongside this, an Electronic City at Rajapakar in Vaishali is also being developed.

Speaking at Semicon India 2026, Kundan Kumar said Bihar has the potential to become an important destination for technology-driven industries.
