Patna: Bihar has emerged as the top state in India for online patient registration in hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). The achievement was driven by the successful implementation of the BHAVYA app and the Scan-and-Share QR code system, which streamline hospital registrations and digital health record management.
Online Registration Milestone
During the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission Bihar Conclave 2.0, held at Hotel Panache Kautilya in Patna, Health Minister Mangal Pandey honored doctors and hospital officials whose institutions contributed to this achievement. Bihar hospitals generated a total of 5.26 crore online registration tokens, positioning the state first in the country for patient digital registration.
Minister Pandey highlighted that, inspired by great Indian scholars such as Acharya Chanakya and Aryabhatta, Bihar’s health department is rapidly establishing its national presence. “Delegates from other states are coming to study Bihar’s health facilities, reflecting a significant achievement for the state,” he said.
BHAVYA App Enhances Patient Care
The BHAVYA app allows patients to complete their registration digitally and provides online access to treatment details, medications, and health records. The paperless system is fully secure, and all information can be used for future treatments, offering continuity and convenience in healthcare.
The Health Minister also mentioned plans to include medicine inventories from pharmacies within the app. This initiative will allow patients to check medicine availability from home, reducing the need to visit multiple pharmacies.
Key Health Achievements
During the event, the Minister shared additional statistics showcasing Bihar’s digital health progress:
- 6.11 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Account IDs created – Bihar ranks 4th nationally.
- 6.17 crore electronic health card records – Bihar ranks 3rd in the country.
- 7,835 government hospitals registered under the Digital Health Incentive Scheme, claiming ₹37.6 crore in incentives – the highest in India.
State Health Officials Applaud Implementation
Departmental Secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh emphasized the convenience provided by digital IDs, from primary health centers to district hospitals. “A single patient ID significantly eases the treatment process. Bihar has achieved multiple milestones in health, thanks to the dedication of those who implemented these initiatives day and night,” he said.
During the conclave, Shashank Shekhar Sinha delivered the welcome speech, while former IMA president Dr. Shahjanand Prasad Singh, Vikram Pagariya, Executive Director of the State Health Committee Amit Kumar Pandey, and Special Secretary Himanshu Sharma were also present.
