Patna: Bihar is set to adopt the successful urban development model of Gujarat to accelerate modernization and infrastructure growth in its cities. Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and Minister of Mines and Urban Development, Vijay Kumar Sinha, visited Gandhinagar on Thursday to study Gujarat’s city planning strategies and governance framework. During his visit, he held detailed discussions with Gujarat’s Urban Development Minister, Kannubhai Mohanlal Desai, focusing on initiatives that have enabled Gujarat’s cities to grow rapidly and sustainably.
Strategic Workshop Organized by Ministry of Coal and Mines
The meeting was part of a strategic workshop organized by the Central Ministry of Coal and Mines in Gandhinagar. The workshop brought together ministers, senior officials, and experts from various states to discuss sustainable mining practices, urban development strategies, innovative technologies, and future planning for the sector. Deputy CM Sinha participated in the sessions to gain insights into integrating urban planning with technological innovation, digital governance, and resource management.

The Gandhinagar workshop also emphasized sustainable mineral resource development, environment-friendly mining practices, and the use of digital technologies for governance. Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and ministers and officials from other states participated in the workshop. The sessions focused on achieving self-reliance in mining, promoting innovation, and ensuring environmentally responsible urban and industrial development.

Deputy CM Sinha’s visit is expected to inform Bihar’s strategy for modernizing its urban centers.
