Indian Masterminds Stories

Patna: In a significant move to enhance farmers’ income and promote sustainable agriculture, the Bihar Government’s Agriculture Department has organized a state-level Farmer Training and Exposure Program in Ranchi for selected farmers from Patna district.

Under this program, two progressive farmers from each block of Patna district were selected, bringing the total number of participants to 46. The initiative is being implemented by the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Patna, with a focus on integrated farming systems, risk management, resource optimization, and practical approaches to sustainable agricultural development.

Five-Day Residential Training in Ranchi

The training program is being conducted at the Mobile Agricultural School and Services (MASS) in Ranchi from January 8 to January 12, 2026. Over the five-day residential program, farmers are being exposed to modern agricultural techniques, innovations, mechanization, value addition, and successful farming models. The hands-on learning will enable them to adopt these practices effectively in their own fields.

Agriculture Minister Ram Kripal Yadav highlighted that the program covers crop production, livestock management, dairy farming, fisheries, horticulture, mushroom cultivation, vermicomposting, and natural resource management. Farmers will also receive practical guidance on reducing production costs, increasing productivity, adopting climate-resilient practices, leveraging digital agriculture technologies, and connecting directly with markets for their produce.

Objective: Sustainable Income and Rural Development

The main objective of the program is to provide farmers with regular income opportunities throughout the year, generate employment in rural areas, and promote self-reliant and competitive agriculture while conserving natural resources. Upon completion, the trained farmers will share their knowledge and experiences with other farmers, amplifying the program’s impact across the region.

ATMA Patna emphasized that this initiative represents a forward-looking effort to drive agricultural innovation, farmer empowerment, and holistic rural development in Bihar.
