New Delhi: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited’s (BPCL) Mumbai and Bina Refineries received prestigious national recognition at the 7th ICC National Occupational Health & Safety Awards 2025. The awards ceremony, organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), celebrated excellence in health, safety, and environment (HSE) practices in the Large Enterprise category (turnover above Rs. 250 crore) under the Oil & Gas sector.

Bina Refinery Wins Platinum Award, Mumbai Refinery Bags Gold

The Bina Refinery was honored with the Platinum Award, which was accepted by Mr. Siddharth Oza, Manager – Fire & Safety, and Mr. Harendra Yadav, Deputy General Manager (I/C – P&U, BDT & COT). The Mumbai Refinery secured the Gold Award, accepted by Mr. Atul Vyawahare (GM – Environment & Process Safety), Mr. Sukhadhan Samuel (Chief Manager – Medical), and Dr. Sachin Damle (Manager – Safety).

Rigorous Assessment of Workplace Health and Safety Standards

The ICC’s evaluation process involved a comprehensive assessment of multiple facets including the implementation of technology-driven safety measures, meticulous maintenance of logs and health records, strict adherence to emission norms verified by external agencies, proper upkeep and operation of safety equipment, and regular safety drills. These criteria ensured that all processes and personnel at both refineries comply with the highest safety standards.

Awards Presented by Distinguished Dignitaries

The awards were presented by a panel of esteemed dignitaries including Dr. Krishna Sen, Hon’ble Chairman of ICC; Ms. Elizabeth Oriando, Consul for Economic Affairs, US Consulate; Mr. Sumit Roy, Deputy Director General, Directorate General Factory Advice Service & Labour Institutes (DGFASLI); and Mrs. Nilambari Bhosale, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Maharashtra.
