In a first of its kind, the Assam government will transform four of the state’s former general degree colleges into buzzing campuses where undergraduate students from around the state will be trained by professionals to excel in national and state-level civil services and competitive exams.
On Monday, the State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA) inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with four premier colleges located in four distinct parts of the state.
For implementing the project “Civil Services study centres at Universities and Colleges”, Gurucharan College, Silchar, Jagannath Barooah College, Jorhat, Darrang College, Tezpur, and Bhola Nath College, Dhubri have been selected.
According to the MoA, the implementing agencies would prioritise the need to identify interested students at the graduate level while they are pursuing their education by encouraging, empowering, and guiding them with basic infrastructure and study materials.
