New Delhi/Patna/Mumbai – The Central Government has approved the deputation of two senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to key national security agencies, further strengthening central policing bodies with experienced personnel.
Babu Ram Appointed DIG in CISF
Babu Ram, a 2009-batch IPS officer of the Bihar cadre, currently serving as Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Tirhut Range, has been appointed as DIG in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). His appointment is on a central deputation basis, as per an official notification.
CISF plays a crucial role in providing security to critical infrastructure installations across the country, including airports, metro networks, nuclear and space establishments, and major industrial units. Babu Ram’s transition from Bihar’s Tirhut Range to a central paramilitary role is seen as part of a strategic move to infuse experienced leadership into central security operations.
K M Mallikarjuna Prasanna Appointed IG in NIA
In another key move, K M Mallikarjuna Prasanna, a 2000-batch IPS officer of the Maharashtra cadre, has been appointed as Inspector General (IG) in the National Investigation Agency (NIA). His posting is also on a deputation basis.
Prasanna brings over two decades of policing experience to the NIA, India’s premier anti-terror investigative agency. Known for handling sensitive criminal and anti-insurgency cases in Maharashtra, his induction is expected to further enhance the agency’s operational depth in dealing with terror-related cases and interstate crime.
These postings reflect the Centre’s ongoing efforts to optimize leadership strength in key internal security institutions by drawing from the expertise of state cadre officers.
