New Delhi: In a major administrative overhaul, the Delhi Police on Tuesday ordered the transfer and posting of 50 IPS and 20 DANIPS officers across crucial positions, with immediate effect.
The reshuffle was approved by the Lieutenant Governor and impacts senior ranks including Special Commissioners, Joint Commissioners, Additional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs).
The large-scale exercise covers district policing, crime, traffic, security and specialised units.
DG-Level Changes
Among the senior-most changes:
- Virender Singh has been transferred as DG (Home Guards).
- Anand Mohan has been appointed DG (Prisons).
- Surendra Singh Yadav has been posted as DG (Civil Defence).
Joint Commissioner-Level Transfers
Several key Joint CP-level positions have been reshuffled –
- Sanjay Kumar Jain appointed Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Commissioner of Police, with additional charge of Joint CP (Tech and PI).
- Kime Kamjing moved from Joint CP (Traffic) to Joint CP (Armed Police).
- Dheeraj Kumar shifted from Joint CP (Armed Police) to Joint CP (Crime), heading the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF).
- Ajit Kumar Singla posted as Joint CP (Eastern Range).
- Sanjay Kumar Tyagi takes over as Joint CP (Traffic).
- Vijay Kumar (IPS 2007 batch), earlier OSD to the Commissioner, appointed Joint CP (Southern Range).
Additional Commissioner-Level Changes
At the Additional CP level –
- Monika Bhardwaj shifted from Traffic to Additional CP (IFSO).
- Vijyanta Arya posted as Additional CP (Traffic).
- Satya Vir Katara given charge of Additional CP (Recruitment).
- Nidhin Valsan moves to Additional CP (Tech and PI).
- Abhishek Dhania posted as Additional CP (Crime-ANTF).
District-Level DCP Transfers
Several district policing units have new DCPs –
- Sachin Sharma moves from DCP (Outer) to DCP (New Delhi).
- Shashank Jaiswal shifted from DCP (Traffic) to DCP (Rohini).
- Rajiv Kumar appointed DCP (East).
- Kushal Pal Singh posted as DCP (Dwarka).
- Rajendra Prasad Meena becomes DCP (Shahdara).
- Akanksha Yadav transferred as DCP (North-West).
- Vikram Singh posted as DCP (Outer).
- Anant Mittal appointed DCP (South).
- Rohit Rajbir Singh takes charge as DCP (Central).
Special Units and Other Key Assignments
- Ankit Chauhan moves from DCP (South) to DCP (Special Branch).
- Ankit Kumar Singh posted as DCP (Vigilance).
- Shobhit D. Saxena appointed DCP (Traffic).
- Bharat Reddy Bommarreddy takes charge as DCP (Railways) with additional charge of DCP (Metro).
- Sudhanshu Verma appointed DCP (Security-PM).
- Sandeep Gupta posted as DCP (Traffic).
- Vineet Kumar takes over as DCP (Tech and PI).
- Sumit Kumar Jha appointed DCP (CP’s Secretariat-Crime).
DANIPS Cadre Adjustments
In the DANIPS cadre, multiple ACPs have been assigned additional DCP responsibilities in current duty-charge arrangements across districts such as Shahdara, North, Outer, South-East and Rohini.
Additionally –
- DCP Aalap Patel transferred from Special Cell to General Administration.
- DCP Amit Kaushik moved from Special Cell to Outer North district.
Wide-Ranging Administrative Exercise
The reshuffle reflects a comprehensive reorganisation of Delhi Police’s leadership structure, impacting operational, administrative and specialised wings. Such large-scale transfers are typically aimed at strengthening coordination, improving district-level policing and enhancing specialised enforcement mechanisms across the national capital.
