New Delhi: The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has announced the appointments of Richa Verma (IAS) and Shreyansh Mohan (IRS) as Deputy Secretaries in the Department of Higher Education, Government of India, under the Central Staffing Scheme. Both appointments are for a period of four years from the date they assume charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Richa Verma (IAS) to Join Higher Education Department
Richa Verma, a 2012-batch IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, has been selected for the post of Deputy Secretary. Verma holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S.) degree from Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak.
In her administrative career, she has served in key roles in Himachal Pradesh, including as Managing Director of the Himachal Pradesh State Handicrafts & Handloom Corporation and the Himachal Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (HPSIDC). Known for her focus on industrial and handicraft development, Verma is recognized for her administrative efficiency and commitment to public service.
Shreyansh Mohan (IRS) Appointed Deputy Secretary
Shreyansh Mohan, an Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officer of the 2015 batch, has also been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Higher Education, New Delhi. His appointment, recommended by the Department of Revenue, requires him to be relieved of his current duties immediately to take up the central deputation under the Ministry of Education.
About the Appointments
Both appointments are made under the Central Staffing Scheme, which allows officers from state and central services to be deputed to key positions in the Government of India. The officers will contribute to policymaking and administration in higher education, supporting initiatives to strengthen India’s educational sector.
