Two top IFS officers from the Gujarat cadre, Chief Wildlife Warden Nityanand Srivastava and Deputy Conservator of Forests (Surendranagar) Nikunj Patel, are on a visit of Germany to attend a meeting on Wild Ass Protection.
The Secretariat of the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) has scheduled the meeting, which will take place on Vilm Island from June 26 to July 1.
The Union Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change has nominated the two officers to attend the conference.
India is a member of the CMS, and the meeting has been called to accomplish a variety of goals relating to wild ass, such as reviewing its status and distribution, identifying the key risks it faces, and developing an action plan for its protection.
