Joint-Civil Military Training Programme Inaugurated At LBSNAA

Participants are drawn from the Civil Services, Armed Forces, and the Central Armed Police Forces.

The 29th iteration of the Joint-Civil Military Training Program (JCM) was inaugurated at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA). This 10-day programme is an important step in building synergy between the civil and military establishments.

This year has seen the highest participation of 70 officers from 26 diverse services. The Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony, Mr M. A. Ganapathy, Director General of the National Security Guard (NSG), emphasized the need for greater synergy between the civil and military authorities in dealing with internal security challenges.

Director of LBSNAA, Mr Srinivas R. Katikithala, in his address highlighted the importance of harnessing emerging technologies like Generative AI for enhancing national security.

About Joint Civil Military

The Joint Civil-Military Programme on National Security was initiated in the year 2001 following the recommendations of GoM on National Security pursuant to the Kargil Review Committee, with the aim of fostering structured interface between Civil Servants and Armed Forces officers for a shared understanding of National Security.

Participants are drawn from the Civil Services, Armed Forces, and the Central Armed Police Forces.

The objective is to increase awareness of the different dimensions and elements of National Security as well as threats to such security. This programme also works towards familiarizing the participants with challenges to management of national security, emerging external security environment, impact of globalization and internal security environment as well as to provide an opportunity for the participants to interact and exchange ideas on the subject, and to expose them to the imperatives of civil-military synergy.
