1986 batch IPS officer S Chattopadhya, incumbent DGP Dinkar Gupta of 1987, VK Bhawra, MK Tiwari, Rohit Choudhary, Parbodh Kumar, IPS Sahota, Sanjeev Kulra, Parag Jain who is on central deputation and BK Upparl are included in the list. Sindu’s favourite S. Chattopadhya’s name was being pushed by congress chief and there was a delay in sending that list as it was Chattopadhya’s last date to stake his claim for DGP’S post.
As per the order of the Supreme Court the panel must not include names of any officer having less than six month of service before he or she retires. So, the state government sent the list very late at night as Chattopadhya is going to retire on March 31st next year and he would not have been on that list if the names were not sent on 31st September on Thursday.
The same happens for Rohit Chaudhary who is going to retire on March 31st next year.
The apex court order the state government to send a panel of senior officer for the appointment of new DGP to UPSC and UPSC will select three of the officers from the list based on records and return it to the state and the state will have to select any one officer from that three official shortlist by UPSC for the appointment of new DGP of the state.
