The Government of Maharashtra in its recent order has been recommended the extension of tenure for Chief Secretary Mr. Sitaram Kunte. The date of his retirement is scheduled to be 30th November. He has been appreciated for his efforts in managing the second wave of Covid-19 in the state. The sources say that “the threat of the third wave of covid-19 still exists, therefore, to deal with such kind of situation in coming future, Chief Minister needs the extension of tenure to his Chief Secretary”. Mr. Kunte is a 1985 batch senior IAS and shares a good equation with the Chief Minister Mr. Udhdhav Thackeray.

If the Centre does not approve the request of the Maharashtra government for the extension of tenure for Mr. Kunte then the officers who may get the responsibility of the top bureaucratic position in the state can be Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Mr. Manukumar Shrivastav or Mr. Manoj Saunik, Additional Chief Secretary (PWD) or Mrs Sujata Saunik, Chief Secretary officers (General Administration).
