Normally, secretaries to the government of India are appointed in time, or tenure extended or successor named. Surprisingly, this did not happen today as three union secretaries are scheduled to retire today.
Union Secretary of Youth Affairs Ms Usha Sharma was returned to her home cadre state (Rajasthan) yesterday to take over as Chief Secretary.
The Food Processing Secretary, Pushpa Subramanyam, Union Secretary of the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals Yogendra Tripathi are retiring today whereas Union Secretary of Department of Financial Services Debashish Panda is also attaining the superannuation age today.
Praveen Kumar Srivastava Secretary Coordination (Cabinet Secretariat), Arun Kumar Jha Special Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Ms Neelam S Kumar, Principal Chief Controller of Accounts, Central Board of Direct Taxes, are also retiring today.
