IAS officers who once topped UPSC by keeping distance from social media are now troubled by fake accounts running in their name on various social media platforms.
In Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district, a fake Twitter account was created in the name of Sardhana SDM and 2020 batch IAS officer, Jagriti Awasthi, and then, a message for help for Rs 5 lakh was sent, allegedly for treatment of a child.
The message appealed to people to help in the operation of the child’s liver, after which, it went viral on social media.
On the other hand, Ms Awasthi lodged a complaint with the police stating that the account was fake. Along with this, there was a demand to close this Twitter account.
Ms Awasthi is All India UPSC topper and got 2nd rank in UPSC CSE 2020.
It is worth mentioning here that a week ago, a post from the same account was circulated on Twitter in the name of SDM Sardhana Jagruti Awasthi as taking charge of Meerut Sadar Tehsil. The account also posted photos of the SDM.
And now, once again on Saturday, a post was tweeted with the photo of a sick child from the fake account named Jagruti Awasthi IAS, in which it was mentioned that the child need to go for a liver transplant.
Ms Awasthi said that regarding this fake account on Twitter, she has lodged a police complaint. She also warned that people should not get misled by the messages being sent from the fake ID.
