With the rising cases of Covid 19 in the country, the Odisha state government has appointed 21 senior IAS officers as observers to monitor the affected districts in the state.
Principal Secretary of Water Resources department Anu Garg and Labour Commissioner N Thirumala Naik have been appointed to monitor Bhubaneshwar, which became a Covid hotspot during the second wave of Covid 19.
Whereas, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh districts will be looked after by Secretary of Energy department Nikunja Bihari Dhal. Balangir, Bargarh and Nuapada districts have been assigned to Principal Secretary in the MSME department Satyabrat Sahu and Special Secretary to government in the Rural Development department Benudhar Behera.
Madhusudan Padhi, Principal Secretary of Commerce and Transport department will be monitoring Balasore and Bhadrak districts. Whereas, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts will be taken care of by Surendra Kumar and Srikant Prusty, Special Secretary in the Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts department respectively.
Other officers who have been made incharge are G Mathivathanam (Ganjam and Gajapati districts), Hemant Sharma and Suresh Chandra Dalai (Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara districts), Bishnupada Sethi and Gopabandhu Satpathy (Angul, Deogarh and Dhenkanal districts), Chitra Arumugam (Sambalpur and Sonepur districts), Swaswat Mishra and Bishnu Prasad Mishra (Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Boudh districts), VV Yadav and Rashi Khan (Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada and Nabarangpur districts), Temjenwapang Ao and Anil Kumar Samal (Gajapati, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Puri and Khurda (rural)) and Susanta Mohapatra (Cuttack city and Cuttack rural).
