Punjab DGP Mr. Dinkar Gupta directed all the CPs, SSPs to launch preventive, precautionary and operational security measures to ensure peace and communal harmony in the state. While addressing state-level crime review meeting at Punjab Armed Police (PAP) campus Mr. Gupta said “Although a lot of good work is being done by most of the police chiefs at their concerned districts, however, intelligent and smart policing which involves the use of technology and tradecraft needs to be implemented at the ground level”.
In the meeting he also highlighted the recent incidences and raised his concerns over the significant recovery of arms and ammunition, signaling major attempts by anti-national elements to disturb the peace and communal harmony in the border state.
Mr. Gupta gave clear direction to officers to not let anyone take the law into their hands. He gave instructions to keep vigil at all sensitive places as the festival season has been started all around the state.
He also asked the District Police Chiefs to hold meetings with the members of civil society to make them aware of the tiffin bombs and other threats, so that they can further aware devotees to remain alert while visiting their sacred places.
