- IPS officer PK Agrawal takes charge as DGP Haryana
Among the three shortlisted candidates, one being 1988-batch IPS officer Prashanta Kumar Agrawal and other two 1989-batch IPS officers, Mohammad Akil and RC Mishra, the Haryana government appointed the former as the new DGP of Haryana.
The appointment was made while considering the decision of the empanelment committee of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), based on seniority as he was holding the post of Director General (Vigilance Bureau) previously and was the senior-most of the three.
As per the order, his tenure shall be of two years from the date of his assumption of office, based on the 2006 landmark Prakash Singh judgment of the apex court. The discussion was put forward after the former DGP of Haryana, Manoj Yadava obtained premature repatriation to the Intelligence Bureau (IB) citing “career considerations and family requirements”.
