Ahead of Durga Puja celebrations in Bengal, Asansol Durgapur district police is paying special attention to public safety.
Here, the police has started an initiative to boost the safety and prevent crime through dedicated ‘Rakshak’ Bike Police Patrol. It was inaugurated by Asansol Durgapur’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sunil Kumar Chaudhary, an IPS officer of 2004 batch.
Police has formed a special team to provide security to the visitors and people roaming the streets during Puja. A special force of 15 members will roam across the city, who will look after the safety of people.
If anyone has a problem, they will step forward to help. This special team has been given the name ‘Rakshak’ by the police.

Sources said that two private organizations have provided these 15 bullets to the Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate for this initiative.
