New Delhi: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) announced transfer and posting orders for 26 Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers in the ranks of Commissioner of Income Tax (CIT) and Director of Income Tax (DIT). These changes, effective immediately, aim to strengthen the functioning of various Income Tax departments nationwide and ensure greater efficiency in tax administration.

Key Transfers in Commissioner and Director Grade

The transfers span across major cities and regions including Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Bhopal, Ahmedabad, and more. Notable changes include:

Ihezhe Kitto Zhimomi moves from CIT OSD, Guwahati to CIT (Appeals) Unit-2, Kolkata.

These transfers reflect the CBDT’s strategy to realign expertise with operational needs across regions, focusing on appeals, audits, exemptions, and administrative roles.

Additional Charge Assignments Announced

In addition to permanent transfers, the CBDT has entrusted several officers with additional charges to oversee crucial units in various regions:

These additional responsibilities aim to streamline appeals management and enhance tax dispute resolution efficiency.

Impact on Tax Administration and Governance

The realignment of officers is expected to bolster administrative oversight and expedite the resolution of tax cases, particularly appeals and tribunal matters. This move also supports the government’s broader objective of improving tax compliance and revenue collection through a more robust and responsive Income Tax Department.
