New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a two-year extension in the deputation tenure of Kuldeep Dwivedi (IPS:2005:JH), Joint Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday, Dwivedi will continue in his post beyond January 17, 2026, making his total tenure seven years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Extension Approved by ACC
Dwivedi, an IPS officer of the Jharkhand cadre, has been serving in the CBI since September 2023. His tenure extension underscores the government’s continued confidence in his service and leadership within India’s premier investigative agency.

Career Background
Before joining the CBI, Dwivedi served with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) as Deputy Inspector General (DIG), a position he assumed in October 2020. Known for his disciplined leadership and operational expertise, Dwivedi has held several important field and headquarters postings throughout his career.
New Appointment in Environment Ministry
In a separate appointment, the ACC has cleared the posting of Yuvraj Pal Singh (IRS IT:2015) as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC). His appointment is for a period of four years, under the Central Staffing Scheme.
Singh, an officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax), brings a strong background in financial administration and policy implementation. His expertise is expected to bolster the Ministry’s ongoing efforts toward sustainable development, climate resilience, and environmental policy reforms.
