New Delhi: The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has approved the extension of central deputation tenures for two senior officers, Shoyabahmed Kalal (IES:2011) and Nishtha Tiwari (IRS-IT:2005), marking continued trust in their contributions to national administration.
Shoyabahmed Kalal to Continue at NITI Aayog
Kalal, currently serving as Director at NITI Aayog, was initially appointed to the post in November 2020 and assumed charge on December 6, 2020, for a four-year tenure. His tenure was first extended for one year in December 2024. As per the latest order issued on December 9, 2025, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his deputation to continue beyond December 6, 2025, up to December 6, 2027, or until further orders.
During his tenure at NITI Aayog, Kalal has been involved in key policy planning, program monitoring, and strategic initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable development and governance reforms.

Nishtha Tiwari to Continue at Ministry of Home Affairs
Similarly, Nishtha Tiwari, IRS-IT officer of the 2005 batch, has received a two-year extension as Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Tiwari has been serving in the Ministry since December 9, 2020, and her five-year tenure was set to conclude on December 9, 2025. The ACC has approved her continuation until December 9, 2027, or until further orders.
Tiwari has played a crucial role in overseeing policy implementation, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring effective administration of the Ministry’s internal functions.
Government’s Continued Trust
The extensions highlight the government’s confidence in the leadership and expertise of both officers. By extending their tenures, the Ministry and NITI Aayog aim to ensure continuity in policy implementation and strengthen institutional knowledge in strategic decision-making.
