New Delhi: The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has announced key central deputation appointments, including the appointment of Amit Kumar (IDAS:2014) as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Steel and IPS officer Shalini (IPS:2011:UP) as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Amit Kumar Appointed Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Steel
Mr Kumar, recommended for central deputation by the Department of Defence, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Steel under the Central Staffing Scheme.
The appointment, approved by the competent authority, is for a period of four years from the date he assumes charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
This move reflects the government’s efforts to place experienced officers in key administrative roles within central ministries.
Shalini Appointed DIG, CBI
In another significant development, IPS officer Shalini has been appointed Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the CBI for a tenure of five years.
The appointment was approved by the competent authority and formalized through a DoPT order on November 11, 2025.
Currently, Shalini serves as DIG, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), Moradabad, a position she has held since March 2025.
Her induction into the CBI underscores the emphasis on strengthening the cadre with experienced officers in law enforcement and investigation roles.
