In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has made several key appointments.
Mr Rajesh Kumar (RK) Singh, a 1989-batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre, has been appointed as the new Defence Secretary. Katikithala Srinivas, also 1989 batch IAS officer from Gujarat cadre, will take over as Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, while Vivek Joshi is appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Personnel.
The full list of changes includes:
- Katikithala Srinivas: Appointed Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, formerly Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs.
- Manoj Govil: Moved to Secretary, Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, from Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
- Vandana Gurnani: Now Secretary (Coordination) at the Cabinet Secretariat, previously in the cadre.
- Chandra Sekhar Kumar: Elevated to Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, succeeding Srinivas.
- Neelam Shammi Rao: Appointed Secretary, National Commission for Minorities, from Central Provident Fund Commissioner, Ministry of Labour and Employment.
- Punya Salila Srivastava: Transitioned to Officer on Special Duty, Department of Health and Family Welfare, with plans to become Secretary upon Apurva Chandra’s retirement.
- Deepti Gaur Mukerjee: Promoted to Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, following Manoj Govil.
- Deepti Umashankar: Assigned as Officer on Special Duty to the President of India, from Establishment Officer & Additional Secretary, Department of Personnel & Training.
- These appointments are expected to bring new dynamics and efficiency to their respective departments.
