Centre Extends Additional Charges of Sajeesh Kumar N at CMPFO, Prabhat Kumar at Coconut Development Board for 6 Months

ACC Approves Six-Month Extension of Additional Charges for CMPFO Commissioner and Coconut Development Board CEO
Indian Masterminds Stories

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of additional charges held by two senior government officials in key organizations under the Ministries of Coal and Agriculture. The move ensures administrative continuity in the Coal Mines Provident Fund Organisation (CMPFO) and the Coconut Development Board (CDB) until regular appointments are made or further orders are issued.

The decisions were notified as part of the latest appointments and recommendations issued by the Government of India on Tuesday.

Sajeesh Kumar N Continues as Additional Commissioner of CMPFO

The ACC has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Coal to extend the entrustment of additional charge of the post of Commissioner (Joint Secretary level), Coal Mines Provident Fund Organisation (CMPFO) to Sajeesh Kumar N (IRTS:2002).

Sajeesh Kumar N is presently serving as Coal Controller, Coal Controller Organisation, under the Ministry of Coal. His additional charge as Commissioner of CMPFO has been extended for a further period of six months from May 1, 2026, to October 31, 2026.

The extension will remain valid until:

  • The completion of the six-month period,
  • Appointment of a regular incumbent to the post, or
  • Further government orders,

whichever occurs earlier.

The CMPFO plays a crucial role in managing provident fund, pension and related social security benefits for employees working in India’s coal mining sector. The extension is expected to ensure uninterrupted administration and policy implementation within the organization.

Prabhat Kumar Retains Additional Charge of Coconut Development Board

In a separate decision, the ACC approved the proposal of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare for the continuation of Prabhat Kumar, currently serving as Horticulture Commissioner, as the additional Chief Executive Officer (Joint Secretary level) of the Coconut Development Board (CDB).

His additional charge has been extended for another six months from April 6, 2026, to October 5, 2026.

The extension will remain effective until:

  • The expiry of the six-month period,
  • Appointment of a regular CEO, or
  • Further orders from the government,

whichever is earlier.

The Coconut Development Board is a statutory body under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare responsible for promoting coconut cultivation, processing, marketing and export promotion across the country.

Ensuring Administrative Continuity

The extension of additional responsibilities to both officers reflects the government’s emphasis on maintaining continuity in important institutions while the process of appointing regular incumbents continues.

Both CMPFO and the Coconut Development Board are strategically important organizations serving critical sectors of the Indian economy. While CMPFO safeguards the welfare of coal sector employees, the Coconut Development Board plays a vital role in supporting millions of coconut farmers and promoting value-added coconut products.

The latest ACC decisions ensure that ongoing projects, policy initiatives and administrative functions in these organisations continue without disruption.
