New Delhi: The central government has approved the extension of deputation tenures for two senior officers serving as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The move ensures continuity in key investigative leadership positions within India’s premier investigative agency.
Vijyendra Kumar (IRS:2007) to Complete Nine Years on Deputation
Vijyendra Kumar, a 2007-batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, has been granted a one-year extension in his current role. His tenure, which was initially set to end on July 19, 2025, will now continue till July 19, 2026, or until further orders—whichever is earlier.
This extension will bring his total period of deputation with the CBI to nine years, a notable tenure that reflects the government’s confidence in his abilities and performance.

Nirmala Devi (IPS:2009:MH) Gets Two-Year Extension Till 2027
In a similar decision, Nirmala Devi, a 2009-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Maharashtra cadre, has received an extension of two years. Her deputation tenure, originally scheduled to conclude on July 5, 2025, will now run through till July 2027, or until further orders.
With this move, Nirmala Devi is expected to complete seven years on deputation in the CBI, underlining the critical responsibilities and trust placed in her role.
