New Delhi: In a fresh round of senior-level appointments, the Centre on Friday (April 10, 2026) issued notifications appointing three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to key positions in central armed police forces, including the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Border Security Force (BSF).
The appointments include postings at the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Inspector General (IG) levels, reflecting a continued emphasis on experienced leadership in border guarding and internal security forces.
Deepak Barnwal Appointed DIG in SSB
Deepak Barnwal (IPS: 2010: Bihar cadre) has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) as per usual terms and conditions.
A 2010-batch officer, Barnwal was born on June 15, 1982, and joined the IPS after clearing the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Over the years, he has held several key law enforcement roles across Bihar.
He has served as Superintendent of Police (SP) in districts such as Madhubani, Aurangabad, and Lakhisarai. During his tenure in Aurangabad, he led significant anti-Naxal operations, earning recognition for his field leadership.
In addition to district policing, Barnwal has also handled specialized assignments, including serving as SP in the Special Branch. He is known for maintaining high standards of administrative transparency, including regularly updating public records related to his assets and service profile.

Adarsh Sidhu Posted as DIG in BSF
Adarsh Sidhu (IPS: 2012: Rajasthan cadre) has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Border Security Force (BSF) on central deputation.
Originally from New Delhi, Sidhu holds academic qualifications in Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and a Master of Arts (MA). Prior to this appointment, he served in multiple districts across Rajasthan.
His field postings include tenures as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Bhilwara, Tonk, Pali, and Bundi. He has been widely recognized for his community-oriented policing approach and initiatives aimed at protecting child rights.
Sidhu is married to Kiran Kang Sidhu, a fellow 2012-batch IPS officer of the Rajasthan cadre.
Princee Rani Appointed IG in BSF on Lateral Shift
Princee Rani (IPS: 2005: Tripura cadre), currently serving as Inspector General (IG) in the National Security Guard (NSG), has been appointed as IG in the Border Security Force (BSF) on a lateral shift basis.
Her tenure in the BSF will continue up to February 5, 2029.
A senior officer with a distinguished career, Princee Rani has held several key positions in Tripura, including Inspector General of Police (Administration) and Deputy Inspector General (Traffic).
In recognition of her exemplary service, she was awarded the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service in August 2025.
Known for her administrative acumen and leadership capabilities, she continues to serve on central deputation, bringing her extensive experience to the BSF.
Strengthening Leadership in Central Armed Police Forces
Officials indicated that these appointments are part of routine cadre management and deputation processes aimed at strengthening leadership across central armed police forces.
The inclusion of officers with diverse field and administrative experience is expected to enhance operational efficiency, particularly in border management and internal security domains.
