In a significant shake-up within the Chandigarh administration, four new IAS officers have joined top bureaucratic posts over the past two months. The officers are Mandip Brar (Haryana cadre, 2005 batch), Diprava Lakra (Punjab cadre, 2005 batch), Prerna Puri (AGMUT cadre, 2006 batch), and Nishant Kumar Yadav (Haryana cadre, 2013 batch). Their arrival comes at a crucial time as the region grapples with multiple pressing issues.

Mandip Brar and Prerna Puri, both Chandigarh natives with prior experience in the administration, bring a deep understanding of local issues. They will be joined by Lakra and Yadav, whose experience from their respective cadres will bring fresh perspectives to the challenges at hand.

Key issues facing the administration include the conversion of properties from leasehold to freehold, land disposal, a metro project for the Tricity, and the privatization of the power sector. Among the most pressing concerns are estate and housing matters, urban planning, transport, and power privatization.

Additionally, ongoing matters such as fixing fresh collector rates, addressing teacher-related issues in schools, tackling encroachments, and resolving property violations are also under consideration by the central government.

The four officers are expected to play a critical role in expediting these projects and addressing the growing needs of the city’s residents. As the Chandigarh administration awaits key decisions from the central government, the leadership of these new IAS officers will be vital in shaping the region’s future growth and ensuring the efficient implementation of pending works. Their performance will be closely watched in the coming months.
