Chhattisgarh Government Partners with SBI to Provide Free ₹1.6 Crore Insurance Cover for State Employees

State employees to receive personal accident, air accident, disability, and group life insurance at no extra cost under new MoU, strengthening social and economic security.

Raipur: In a significant move to enhance the social and economic security of state government employees, the Chhattisgarh government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Bank of India (SBI) under the State Government Salary Package. The MoU ensures that employees holding salary accounts with SBI will receive comprehensive insurance coverage worth crores of rupees entirely free of cost.

Extensive Insurance Coverage Without Premium

Under the MoU, employees will receive the following insurance benefits at no additional premium:

  • ₹1 crore Personal Accident Insurance
  • ₹1.60 crore Air Accident Insurance
  • ₹1 crore Permanent Total Disability Insurance
  • ₹80 lakh Partial Disability Insurance
  • ₹10 lakh Group Life Insurance

Additionally, SBI RuPay cardholders will receive an extra benefit of ₹10 lakh on top of ₹1 crore insurance coverage. Health insurance top-up facilities will also be made available at concessional rates, further strengthening the financial protection for employees and their families.

Government Commitment to Employee Welfare

Chief Minister Vishnu deo Sai emphasized that the government is continuously taking robust measures to safeguard the well-being of its employees. “This MoU with SBI will serve as a strong protective shield for employees and their families,” he said.

Finance Minister O.P. Chaudhary described the agreement as a crucial step to shield employees from financial risks, highlighting that providing such comprehensive insurance without any additional cost demonstrates the state government’s pro-employee approach.

MoU Signed on December 22, 2025

The MoU was formally signed on December 22, 2025, in the presence of the Finance Secretary of Chhattisgarh. The agreement not only ensures better banking facilities for state employees but also provides substantial financial relief to them and their families in case of accidents or unforeseen circumstances.

This initiative aligns with the government’s broader commitment to social security and employee welfare, reinforcing the message that the administration stands by its employees in all situations, whether related to accidents, disabilities, or life contingencies.
