In a move aimed at strengthening religious tourism and improving access to sacred destinations during Shardiya Navratri, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday flagged off four free buses to facilitate the journey of devotees to Maa Bamleshwari Temple in Dongargarh. This initiative, organized by the Kali Mata Seva Samiti, reflects the state government’s support for faith-based public services and inclusive infrastructure during major festivals.
Free Bus Services for Devotees During Shardiya Navratri
The buses, flagged off from Akashvani Chowk in Raipur, are part of a tradition upheld by the Kali Mata Seva Samiti, which has been operating free transport for devotees of Maa Bamleshwari for the past 10 years.
CM Mr. Sai expressed his gratitude to the Seva Samiti for continuing this noble initiative. He extended his heartfelt Navratri greetings and prayed for the well-being, peace, and prosperity of the state.
“Wishing all devotees a safe and smooth journey. May Maa Bamleshwari fulfill everyone’s wishes and bring happiness and prosperity to Chhattisgarh,” said Mr. Sai in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The event was graced by Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Sharma, Cabinet Minister Mr. Tankaram Verma, MLA Mr. Sunil Soni, and senior public representatives, alongside a large number of devotees.
Strengthening Religious Infrastructure and Pilgrimage Access
This initiative is part of a larger effort by the Chhattisgarh government to enhance spiritual tourism, especially during religious festivals. By providing free and accessible public transportation, the government aims to reduce travel burdens for devotees and promote religious destinations like Dongargarh as key pilgrimage hubs.
The Maa Bamleshwari Temple holds immense cultural and spiritual significance, drawing lakhs of visitors annually. Free bus services during peak pilgrimage periods not only ease congestion but also reflect the administration’s devotee-first approach.
CM Reaffirms Tribal Identity and Cultural Roots in Bastar
In a parallel outreach, CM Mr. Sai recently visited the Dhurwa tribal community in Jagdalpur, Bastar, reaffirming that the true identity of Chhattisgarh lies in its tribal traditions and culture.
“Among the Dhurwa community, I felt a sense of warmth and belonging. Their gesture of offering traditional symbols like the chhatri, tuwal, koti, and bow-and-arrow signifies the deep roots of our cultural heritage,” Mr. Sai posted on X.
During his visit, the Chief Minister inaugurated newly constructed community buildings at the Van Vidyalaya campus, reinforcing the government’s commitment to the welfare of indigenous communities. The event saw the presence of Deputy CM Mr. Vijay Sharma, Minister Mr. Kedar Kashyap, and MP Mr. Mahesh Kashyap, among other dignitaries.
Integrated Approach to Faith, Culture, and Governance
Through initiatives such as free pilgrim transport and direct engagement with tribal communities, the Chhattisgarh government is combining faith-based development with cultural inclusivity. These actions highlight a broader strategy to ensure that development reaches all segments of society — including remote tribal regions and religious pilgrims — in a holistic and inclusive manner.
