Preparations are going on in full swing for the ‘Tansen Samaroh 2023’ in Gwalior, a city renowned for its rich musical and artistic heritage and recognized by UNESCO as the ‘City of Music’. The Tansen Samaroh, an esteemed festival in the realm of classical music, promises to be even more captivating this year. In addition to the customary grandeur, the organizers have introduced new dimensions to the event. This year’s event will unfold in Gwalior from the 24th to the 28th of December at the mausoleum of the music emperor Tansen, in Hazira.
Tansen Samaroh is celebrated every year in the month of December in Gwalior district, Madhya Pradesh. This year’s is the 99th festival. It is a 5-day musical extravaganza. Artists and music lovers from all over the world gather here to pay tribute to the great Indian musical maestro, Tansen. The event is organized near the tomb of Tansen by the Department of Culture, Government of Madhya Pradesh. Artists from all over India are invited to deliver vocal and instrumental performances.
The Samaroh is organized jointly by Ustad Alauddin Khan Kala Evam Sangeet Academy and Department of Culture, Government of Madhya Pradesh. The list of distinguished artists set to perform at the Tansen Samaroh has been unveiled, adding anticipation for the prestigious gathering.
The festival is set to pay homage to the Samadhi of Sur Samrat Tansen, drawing eminent artists and top seekers of Brahmanad from both India and abroad to partake in this celebration of melodies.
