Bhopal, MP: Bhopal witnessed a massive gathering of Panchayat representatives at the Jamboree Maidan on Monday, as Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav addressed the Three-Tier Sarpanch Joint Front Mahasammelan. During the event, the Chief Minister emphasized the power and responsibility of Sarpanches in shaping grassroots development and announced several major initiatives for the state’s Panchayats.
“In the three-tier Panchayat system, a Sarpanch has powers that even MPs and MLAs do not have. If the spirit of work is pure, even God helps,” CM Dr. Yadav said, adding that Panchayats are the true engines of rural progress.
₹50,000 Granted to Each Panchayat Representative for Development Works
Reaffirming his government’s commitment to strengthening local governance, Dr. Yadav announced a grant of ₹50,000 to each Panchayat representative for local development works. He further revealed that the government has sanctioned:
- 2,472 Atal Panchayat Bhawans
- 1,037 community buildings
- 106 Janpad Panchayat buildings
- 5 Zila Panchayat buildings
The Chief Minister assured that district administrations would assist Sarpanches in constructing Shanti Dhams in villages to promote community welfare.
2026 Declared as the Year of Agriculture-Based Industries
Highlighting the government’s vision for a self-reliant Madhya Pradesh, CM Dr. Yadav declared 2026 as the “Year of Agriculture-Based Industries.” He said that employment-oriented industries, particularly those connected to agriculture and food processing, will be expanded to generate rural employment.
“We are focusing on small-scale, cottage, and food-based industries to ensure farmers receive fair prices for their produce. No farmer should be forced to throw away their crops,” he emphasized.
Focus on Milk Production, Ram Van Gaman Path, and Rural Development
Dr. Yadav also appealed to Panchayat representatives to identify and document sites linked with Lord Shri Ram and Lord Krishna. These locations will be developed as part of the Ram Van Gaman Path and designated pilgrimage circuits.
He further encouraged Panchayats to integrate education, health, employment, and dairy development into their local agendas, aiming to make Madhya Pradesh a leading milk-producing state.
Strict Action Against Negligence in Government Schemes
The Chief Minister announced that Panchayats would have the authority to execute development projects worth up to ₹25 lakh. However, he warned that negligence by secretaries or assistant secretaries in implementing government schemes would invite immediate disciplinary action.
“Accountability is essential. The government will not tolerate delay or carelessness in grassroots development,” he asserted.
CM Expresses Grief Over Delhi Car Explosion
Dr. Yadav also expressed sorrow over the tragic car bombing in Delhi, observing a two-minute silence for the victims. He praised the central leadership, saying the nation has full faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who have been leading a strong campaign against terrorism and Naxalism.
