Chhattisgarh Urban Department Receives ₹404.66 Crore from 15th Finance Commission to Boost City Infrastructure

 Funds to Accelerate Drinking Water, Sanitation, Road Development, and Urban Projects Across State’s Municipalities

Raipur: In a significant achievement for urban development, the Chhattisgarh Urban Administration Department received a total of ₹404.66 crore from the 15th Finance Commission in the final phase of the 2025–26 financial year. The fund is set to accelerate key urban infrastructure projects, including drainage systems, drinking water supply, sanitation, and road development across the state’s cities.

Rapid Fund Release Ensures Timely Implementation

The first installment of ₹202.33 crore was released by the Central Government on March 30, 2026, just before the end of the financial year. Demonstrating exceptional efficiency, the department transferred the funds to various urban local bodies within 24 hours.

Due to the swift submission of the Grant Transfer Certificates (GTC), the state automatically became eligible for the second installment, which was also released immediately, bringing the total disbursed amount to ₹404.66 crore.

Officials credited the success to continuous coordination between the state and central government, especially the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs and the Ministry of Finance, which ensured a smooth and uninterrupted process.

Administrative Coordination and Leadership

The Urban Administration Department praised Chief Minister’s leadership and the government’s commitment to urban development for this timely achievement. The department highlighted that the state’s administrative machinery is fully prepared to implement planned projects efficiently, even under tight deadlines.

Officials assured that the fund utilization would be transparent and effective, ensuring maximum benefit reaches the citizens of Chhattisgarh.

Key Areas of Urban Development

The ₹404.66 crore fund will primarily be used to:

  • Strengthen drinking water supply systems across municipalities and urban local bodies
  • Enhance sanitation and cleanliness initiatives in urban areas
  • Improve road infrastructure and related urban amenities
  • Develop other critical urban infrastructure projects to boost city growth

This funding underscores the government’s focus on holistic urban development and its determination to improve the quality of life for residents in Chhattisgarh.

Timely Action Highlights Government Efficiency

The rapid disbursal and allocation of funds reflect efficient governance and proactive planning. By completing the process within 24 hours, the department ensured uninterrupted financial support for urban development projects, setting a benchmark for administrative efficiency at the state level.
