Acknowledging Bravery and Dedication Amidst Natural Calamities

Remembering the State’s Historic Disasters

The Chief Minister reflected on some of the state’s most tragic events, including the devastating 2013 Kedarnath flood, the 2021 disaster in Chamoli’s Rishiganga and Dhauli Ganga valleys, and the 2023 subsidence incident in Joshimath. He also referenced the recent severe weather events in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Dehradun that led to loss of lives and significant damage to property.

Praise for Relentless Rescue Operations

CM Dhami lauded the tireless efforts of the rescue teams who worked round the clock to save those trapped and injured, particularly highlighting the successful rescue of workers stranded in the Silkyara tunnel. He credited the mission’s success to divine blessings and the firm guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Central Government Support Bolsters State Relief Efforts

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, the CM noted the Prime Minister’s personal visit to Dehradun to meet disaster victims and oversee relief efforts. He also welcomed the announcement of a special relief fund of ₹1200 crore, which has been crucial for rehabilitation and rebuilding efforts.

Holistic Approach to Rehabilitation and Livelihood

Highlighting the broader impact of disasters, CM Dhami emphasized that recovery efforts extend beyond infrastructure repair to restoring the confidence and livelihoods of affected communities. The government remains committed to ensuring comprehensive rehabilitation.

Advancing Disaster Preparedness Through Technology and Training

To enhance emergency response capabilities, the state has equipped SDRF personnel with advanced technologies such as drones and satellite monitoring systems. Additionally, the “Disaster Mitra” program trains local youth for disaster response, and the government mandates the use of disaster-resilient construction techniques in roads and bridges. Disaster management education is also being integrated into school and college curriculums.

Students Appreciate Anti-Cheating Measures

Students attending the event expressed their gratitude to CM Dhami for implementing strict anti-cheating laws in educational institutions, reflecting his commitment to good governance.

The ceremony was also attended by prominent figures including MLA Premchand Aggarwal, Swami Rupendra Prakash, Krishan Giri Maharaj, Additional Director General of Police V. Murugesan, and event coordinator Honey Pathak.
