Focus on Scientific Water Management

CM Yogi instructed the department to adopt scientific methods to curb the misuse of water extracted through tubewells. He stressed the importance of implementing robust water conservation practices, especially during the monsoon season, which is ideal for groundwater recharge and improving conditions in dark zone areas with critically low groundwater levels.

Review of Major Irrigation Projects

The Chief Minister conducted a detailed review of key irrigation projects, including the:

  • Saryu Canal National Project
  • Bansagar Project
  • Middle Ganga Canal Project

He directed officials to identify shortcomings and take corrective actions to ensure the timely and effective implementation of these schemes. According to him, these efforts will help resolve water issues in both rural and urban regions.

Special Focus on Terai Region Farmers

Recognizing the unique challenges faced by farmers in the Terai region, CM Yogi emphasized the desilting and revival of reserve wires (canals or natural drains) to expand irrigation access. He also directed that silt be reused to help prevent riverbank erosion and enhance soil quality.

Modern Facilities to Lower Farmer Costs

Modernization of tubewells will not only increase irrigation capacity but also reduce input costs for farmers. The Chief Minister pointed out that the use of modern, technology-driven systems will bring efficiency and improve overall agricultural outcomes.

Ensure Quality and Transparency

CM Yogi made it clear that there should be no compromise on quality or transparency in the renovation and modernization works. He called for strict monitoring of all projects to maintain high standards.

Boost in Agriculture and Farmer Income Expected

Concluding the meeting, the Chief Minister reiterated that the government is taking all necessary steps to provide efficient irrigation systems and promote sustainable water use. He expressed confidence that these initiatives will lead to:

  • Higher agricultural production
  • Improved groundwater levels
  • Increased income for farmers
