Ranchi: In a significant step towards youth empowerment and skill development in Jharkhand, Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Ranchi. The collaboration will provide residential skill development training to 160 underprivileged youth from five districts of the state.
The MoA was formally signed on September 9, 2025, in Ranchi by Mr. Sandeep Kumar Bhagat, GM (Environment/CSR), CMPDI, and Mr. Avneet Kumar Joshi, Director & Head, CIPET Ranchi, in the presence of Mr. R.K. Mahapatro, GM (HRD/CSR), CMPDI.
Focus on Job-Oriented Training
Under this initiative, training will be provided in the following two high-demand technical trades:
- Machine Operator – Plastics Processing (MO-PP)
- Machine Operator – Injection Moulding (MO-IM)
Each course will train 80 participants, totaling 160 youth from Ranchi, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, and Latehar districts.
These four-month residential programs are designed to ensure focused, hands-on learning and industry-relevant skill development, increasing employability in the growing plastics and manufacturing sectors.
A Boost for Rural & Disadvantaged Communities
The initiative targets economically weaker sections, aiming to:
- Improve employment and income opportunities
- Provide technical training aligned with industry needs
- Promote inclusive growth in rural and semi-urban areas
- Enhance self-reliance and dignity among underprivileged youth
The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of CMPDI is funding this initiative, showcasing its continued commitment to community development across coal-bearing regions.

CIPET Ranchi is a premier technical training institute under the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India. It is known for its state-of-the-art infrastructure, experienced faculty, and strong industry linkage in the field of polymer science and plastics engineering.

CMPDI, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, plays a key role in planning and designing coal mining operations in India. Recently, it identified over 400 vacant coal mines with potential for water storage, promoting sustainable water use.
